Reg, I finally got around to making your lemongrass caipirinhas. Have been on the look out for fresh-looking lemongrass for quite awhile. They're wonderful. And thanks for introducing me to Pitu (chachaca). Love it. And now I have the lemongrass sugar syrup to experiment with in other coctails.

ZOE: Thanks. They're my TJ Maxx clearance find.
.
STACY: Go ahead. Twist his arm. He'll thank you for it. You can add a tab bit more club soda to bring down the sweetness, if that's more his tatse. Let us know how it goes.

What a fun twist! We love caipirinhas and the lemongrass is a fun addition. I guess I can twist my husband's arm into taste-testing with me. Sounds rough.

BEVERLY: Thanks. But this drink is alcoholic.
.
Cachaca, a main ingredient in the cocktail, is a Brazilian liquor that is made from the juice of sugarcane (it's kinda of like rum). But you could easily leave out the cachaça and make the drink with just the lemongrass syrup, lime and club soda for a nonalcoholic version.

Enjoy!
