SS: Welcome back! I'm really glad the recipe worked out for you. BTW, thanks for pointing out the raisin omission.
.
AMANDA: You are so right! It never occurred to me. But now that you mention it, it is bascially a phyllo kugel. And both are delish.

made this last night and loved it. it should have occurred to me that this is exactly like kugel but with phyllo instead of egg noodles. it was delicious. the hazelnut was a great idea. thanks for the recipe.

SS: Thanks for the comment. Oppps. I forgot the raisins. The raisins should be sprinkled on top of the pie just before the custard is poured on top. For a little extra flavor you can also spoon two teaspoons of the raisin-steeped hazelnut liqueur on top of the pie with the raisins.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I've corrected the recipe. :)

PHYLLIS: You should definitely give this one a try. It's a delish conversation piece. I'm with you on the hazelnuts...they really bring a beautiful nutty flavor to the pie.
.
WINNIE: Thanks, Winnie. Working with the phyllo wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
.
CIAOCHOWLINDA: Thanks. If you give it a try, let us know how it goes.
